A week study tour in
‘The English Riviera’
We are offering a fantastic opportunity for children aged 10-16 to advance their English with fun, energetic and experienced native teachers in one of the most picturesque and vibrant parts of England. Whilst improving their language skills they shall also experience British culture firsthand and participate in many exciting activities the area has to offer.
Overlooking the clear blue waters of Torbay in south Devon are the towns of Paignton, Torquay and Brixham. The hills surrounding these towns act as a sun-trap, giving the bay its own warm microclimate and providing a beautiful backdrop of greenery. The golden sand on the beaches and the sunny, balmy climate has led to the bay and its seaside towns being named as the ‘English Riviera,’ and its clear to see why! The towns are home to an abundance of attractions which visitors worldwide come to visit every year; underground caverns, a steam train, a huge panoramic ferris-wheel, a world class zoo, and a theme park – to name but a few! There are also great transport links to the historical and lively city of Exeter, which has a magnificent cathedral and a popular shopping district.
Students will participate in English lessons in the morning which will be tailored to suit the students needs and abilities. During these lessons they will learn how to speak correctly, fluently and with confidence. Topics will be related to the afternoon activities to ensure the students are prepared for real-life interactions as they will be encouraged to converse with locals. We will provide the students with all the support they need, not only in regards to the language, but also with improving their confidence and making them feel comfortable when speaking English. Students will also continue their learning in the afternoons during their excursions; there will be a variety of activities including quizzes,
role plays and vocabulary hunts, as well as real life situations where students will be challenged and motivated to speak English. In the evenings students will have a ‘wind down’ time where they will all gather and discuss their days and write in their travel journals.
In the afternoons the students, along with their native teacher, will explore the many attractions the local area has to offer. There will be activities to suit everyone and each day will offer a different opportunity for the students to experience British culture and learn about many interesting things! Our trainers have handpicked each of these locations as the ‘must-visit’ locations in the area and are familiar with the history and local knowledge. The students, accompanied by their teacher, will visit the famous sights and historical places, as well as little unknown local treasures such as secret beaches and
great shops. The students will also be able to have some free time to wander around and discover the area for themselves, and of course, interact with locals!
All students will stay together in a family-run hotel which frequently hosts many English language students. Students will stay 2 or 3 to a room and the rooms are fully equip with en-suites. The accommodation is located 1 minute from the beach and seafront entertainment, and close to local shops and parks. There is also a large cinema and wide selection of restaurants nearby and plenty of fish and chip shops! A warm breakfast and dinner will be provided, with students being given packed lunches for their afternoon excursions. The teacher will always be on hand to support the students and offer them guidance and counsel. Our teachers are locals to the area with great knowledge of all the
local amenities and have transportation available on hand.
The teacher will meet the students at Dusseldorf Airport and the group will fly together to Bristol Airport where they will be met by transport ready to take them to their accommodation. The teacher will also fly back with the students and look after them during their time at the airport. During their stay their teacher will take care of all travel arrangements which shall include bus, boat and train – the area has great transport links and it is very easy to travel around. All students will have an orientation session at the beginning of their stay and be given a pocket map showing them all the local amenities as well as meeting points.
